According to disclosures from Tether, the multi-step test transaction involved Hyundai Motor America converting corporate funds into USDT, transferring the stablecoin across the border to Hyundai Motor Mexico, and subsequently converting the digital asset back into local currency equivalents. While a traditional cross-border bank transfer typically requires anywhere from three to four hours—and often stretches across multiple business days depending on intermediary banking relationships and time zones—the entire end-to-end transfer and verification lifecycle for the pilot was completed in roughly seven minutes.
The technical execution of the pilot relied on Axiym’s specialized settlement infrastructure, providing the necessary backend rails to facilitate the asset movement. Meanwhile, Hyundai Card designed the overarching remittance structure and took charge of overseeing the strict regulatory, compliance, accounting, and operational requirements that were mandatory for supporting the proof of concept.
This collaborative framework was intentionally designed to evaluate whether stablecoin-based settlement mechanisms could be smoothly integrated into existing corporate treasury operations without requiring disruptive changes to underlying governance, regulatory compliance, or internal accounting processes. Following the success of this initial phase, the participating entities plan to expand their testing protocols to encompass additional payment corridors and local currency settlements as they continue to evaluate broader enterprise treasury workflows for long-term implementation.
Corporate treasury has rapidly emerged as one of the most vital and active use cases for stablecoin issuers and blockchain infrastructure providers globally. Financial technology firms and enterprise software providers are increasingly rolling out commercial products specifically engineered to support seamless cross-border payments, sophisticated liquidity management, and efficient intercompany settlement processes.

This enterprise shift is mirrored in broader software integrations across the financial sector. In April, major treasury management software provider Kyriba partnered with Circle to integrate the USDC stablecoin directly into its enterprise treasury platform. This strategic collaboration empowers corporate treasury teams to monitor and manage stablecoin balances alongside conventional cash positions, execute eligible cross-border and intercompany payments in near-real time, and access essential liquidity outside of traditional banking operating hours—all while utilizing their pre-existing enterprise workflows and internal approval controls.
Market data underscores the accelerating pace of this adoption trend. A Bitso Business report published this month revealed that stablecoin transaction volumes processed on its platform surged by 81% year over year during the first half of 2026. This remarkable growth was primarily propelled by escalating corporate demand for real-time settlement solutions, optimized treasury management, and efficient cross-border liquidity mechanisms. Notably, over 60% of the new business clients onboarded by the platform during the period consisted of established financial institutions, including traditional banks and licensed payment service providers.
Business surveys and industry analyses further illustrate the deepening integration of digital assets into corporate balance sheets. A June Paybis report highlighted that 22.5% of surveyed businesses either already utilize stablecoins for international commercial payments or maintain active plans to implement them within the subsequent 12 months. Citing extensive research from McKinsey, the report noted that business-to-business transactions accounted for approximately 60% of the estimated $390 billion in aggregate global stablecoin payment volume recorded in 2025.
This expanding enterprise footprint coincides with steady macro-level growth across the broader stablecoin sector. According to data from DefiLlama, the total market capitalization of the stablecoin market has climbed to approximately $312.3 billion, representing a robust 21.5% increase from the $257.1 billion recorded a year earlier. Within this expanding digital asset economy, Tether’s USDT continues to maintain its position as the largest stablecoin by total market capitalization, serving as a primary liquidity anchor for institutional pilots and global commercial transactions alike.
